I'm a 17 year old living in Dublin. Doing my Leaving Cert right now (625 incoming). I have worked on a myriad of projects, both inventive and research based. Right now, I'm working on a GPT (General Pretrained Transformer) from scratch to better understanding how the popular transformer based LLMs work, being a fun project so I'm not bored with school. Will put this up on my github soon
This is what originally reeled me into my interest into engineering and technology originally. When I was younger, myself and my brother always had a deep interest in the universe, and speculated we would be scientists. Paticularly in the field of Astronomy or space, since it was the most interesting. I thought there was much too little I knew about the universe. The Dunning-Kruger effect hit me hard. I was unaware it did hit hard at the time. I was fortunately able to stumble across a SpaceX engineer on discord when I was 12, and we discussed thrust vectoring, which caused me to want to build a rocket with this stability system at model scale (against my parent's wishes). This was my first engineering project. One of the most fun. Actually made me aware of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Building a Defense tech startup right now! Check that out over here! Layth: There are 2 fundamental reasons I like this field. The first one is that fundamentally you want to have be better equipped than the other guy, because humans are unpredictable, you want to be able to handle difficult wartime situations, and try to prevent if needed. Second reason is that I think that demonstrations of such technologies is quite impressive, and cool.
(wormholes in spacetime are of paticular interest at the moment)
Fundamental to solving problems in the real world. Also oddly satisfying
Economics is something I believe everyone should at the very least have a fundamental understanding of. It provides foundation to understanding how populations of humans react to social, political, and economic stimuli.
